”OTTOMAN CENTRALIZATION IN THE RURAL ADMINSTRATION: District (Qada) Administration in Gediz and Problems (Dr. Biray Çakmak, 2019)
The province system, which is based on direct relationship between the state and the tebaa through civil servants, was described in detail with the regulations and instructions. The operation of the system was introduced. Numerous studies have been carried out on the principles of the provincial system. However, no more investigations were conducted at the district (qada) level regarding the functioning and problems of the provincial system. This study -by focusing Gediz district- aims to determine the attitudes and reforms of the Ottoman Empire with the concerns of governance, the attitudes and demands posed by the concerns of the ruler, and the state-society relations on the basis of compliance and contention.
